More Photoshoppery.

This photo was almost discarded, and then I thought it might be a good candidate for some tweaking...resulting in the SECOND photo image - I attacked it with multiple filters and adjusted the colour balance and contrast until I achieved the desired effect. Somewhat better, I think...!

A quick explanation.

I wish I could say these were MY creations, but no - they're being used as EXAMPLES ONLY of Ed Roth's brilliant counter-culture cartoons. I needed to illustrate the difference between Roth's unconventional style and the kind of Melba-toast artwork that he was attempting to undermine to an acquaintance. The man was a genius. RIP, "Big Daddy." (Ed Roth - 1932-2001)

The RIDER GREATS Pin Collection.

This was a project that I was enlisted to design for the Leader-Post/Star-Phoenix that was given out as a "premium" to new subscribers, or available for purchase over the counter. It was also sold at the Rider Store, and was available as a complete mounted set, box-framed. I designed EVERYTHING from the actual pins, to the album they were mounted in, and ALL contingent advertising and point-of-sale displays. BIG job...popular item, though!

Achapani logo design and marketing campaign.

This project was undertaken at the behest of an associate of mine (Adele Lohmann, who ran Ad Ease Market Managing) for a brewing company in Maine who were looking to expand their product line to include bottled water. After brainstorming a name, I came up with a logo and designed a label for the bottle along with artwork for their product launch...it has apparently been a hit for them - I was told they won a business award for best new product when it was first introduced!

Lobby Show Card for Fundraising Dinner.

This was done up "on the fly" for COWTOWN to place alongside a display of prizes being offered at a Ducks Unlimited fundraiser. Yet another depiction of a very well-traveled and larger-than-life Cow!...

New Logo/Signage for Established Business.

I was asked to re-work the logo for "Lasting Impressions" in Moose Jaw a while back, and told to experiment with three specific colours, and also to incorporate a wheat stalk. They chose the burgundy version, obviously - it's used on signage, advertising and merchandising...

Superbird Illustration, Pt.III

This started out as a line drawing for a T-shirt done for the Southey Mopar Muscle Meet back in 1990 (it was printed in pink!), then I modified it for the 2000 Southey show(Orange that time), and now I've ka-jiggered it again, this time as a Petty Blue version. Reduce, re-use, recycle!

The Event Formerly Known As...

It's the "CRAVEN COUNTRY JAMBOREE" now, but for a number of years beforehand, it was "ROCK'N THE VALLEY!" Yours truly did the event logo and most of the posters and related mat'l for the show...I always ended up with a fistful of weekend passes...made me momentarily popular with all the neighbourhood mooches!

IT'S VITA-MAN!

Sigh...okay, those of you who know me through our affiliation at the L-P know I've never been particularly fond of this guy. The material that I was given to work with was pretty weak from the get-go, and I did what I could to turn it into something with a little more eye-appeal. In the end, the customer was happy enough with the final product that it's been used in many, many different ways to help promote their stores...so, I guess you can't argue with success! Regardless of that, I still think he's an ugmo...

This is a panic-job caricature I made up today...in by 9:00, out by 4:00 - better than Canadian Tire! It's actually a composite from two previous caricatures I did...the "Tricycle" is really old, but luckily, vector...and by another stroke of luck, I'd done a previous caricature of Mr. Farthing...so it went together quick'n'dirty!
